Louis Auguste Dage was a notable French potter and ceramist whose career began at the Fives-Lille earthenware factory. He trained in places such as Saint-Aubin-en-Bray and Beauvais, known for prominent ceramic factories.
In 1920, Dage co-founded the Faïencerie d’Art in Antony, Paris, and later partnered with Eugène Val. He received the “Meilleur ouvrier de France” award in 1924, a prestigious recognition of craftsmanship.
In the early 1930s, he contributed to the decorative work on the ocean liner Le Normandie. By 1935, he managed the Saint-Sever earthenware factory in Landes, where he was known for his passion for ceramics, hands-on involvement, and progressive employment practices.
His pieces often featured bronze mounts by André Villen and his style included plant motifs on marbled backgrounds as well as distinctive material effects.
