Born in Glasgow in 1928, Sheila McNab Macmillan attended Glasgow University and qualified as a teacher. After studying painting with her uncle, the artist Ian McNab, she began to exhibit and embarked upon a lifetime of painting – a passion which was to take her to France and Spain where she enjoyed painting en plein air. She says her work is mainly landscape and semi abstract, her preferred media being oils and acrylic. Macmillan has exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Glasgow Institute and in galleries in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Newcastle. Over the years she has had a number of solo exhibitions and has won many awards. Sheila died in 2018.
